Subscription Sales Begin
Subscriptions are now on sale for Cleveland Ballet's 1982-83 season, with four, three and two performance plans from which to choose.
The Ballet's seventh performing season begins October 15 at the Hanna Theatre with four world premieres; one choreographed by artistic director lan Horvath, and three by associate director and resident choreographer Dennis Nahat. These four new ballets run October 15-24.
Horvath has collaborated with jazz composer Dick Hyman for his new work titled Piano Man. Hyman's score includes the styles of such piano luminaries as Scott Joplin, Jellyroll Morton, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, George Shearing and Dave Brubeck. Hyman will make a special guest appearance with the Ballet on opening night, October 15.
For his three new ballets, Nahat has selected the Bach Piano Concerto No. 5; Batok's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste, and the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2.

repertory favorites Swan Lake Act II; Rodeo, Agnes de Mille's classic of the American west; Nahat's highly acclaimed Le Style Classique set to Mozart's Symphony No. 39; and the Cleveland Ballet premieres of two pas de deux, Le Corsaire and Don Quixote. This program runs October 26-31 at the Hanna.
Cleveland Ballet's spectacular holiday celebration, The Nutcracker, returns to Music Hall December 4-31, capturing the spirit of Christmas in a story for the whole family to share. There are 32 performances this year, and more matinees than ever.
Coppelia is on the big Music Hall stage for the first time this season, March 11-27.
As a bonus, season subscribers have the chance to order tickets now for, Cleveland Ballet's special attraction, the Twyla Tharp Dance Company, May 13 and 14. Tharp will bring her dancers to Cleveland for three performances only, at the Hanna Theatre.
